The Museum of the Bosnian Kingdom

Research at the MUSEUM OF THE BOSNIAN KINGDOM is primarily focused on the history of the medieval Bosnian state. There is no doubt that this historical era represents one of the most sensitive periods in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina. A major problem in Bosnia and Herzegovina is that the average citizen does not possess a satisfactory level of objective knowledge regarding the history of medieval Bosnia. The problems include a lack of general awareness, the acceptance of mythological beliefs, and a lack of understanding of scientific books and works that are rarely prepared for a general audience, but rather for a small group of scholars. The lack of institutional action aimed at explaining their own history to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina has greatly contributed to the gap between current scientific knowledge and the opinions of the citizens. It is the mission of the MUSEUM OF THE BOSNIAN KINGDOM to present, highlight, and adapt the complex history of Bosnia in the Middle Ages and the medieval Bosnian people to the contemporary understanding and perception of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
